The possible “historical” basis for the new Chinese HT?

This post is merely providing the tiny tiny “historical” linkage to the new Chinese BZ-176/New HT line, I am not saying it’s real nor has any solid historical evidence, the whole line came out of WeeGee’s arse.

I’ve been able to dig up some sources by asking around the Chinese WOT community, apparently, someone owns an old Chinese tank history book or military magazine, the name of the said source material is unknown as it was an “Oh, my friend’s friend gave this to me, I don’t know the name as well”, so take everything with a grain of salt.

1. So, Rocket boosters?

The source, if u can read chinese

Simple version Translation: In the tank design school/Factory 674, ideas were discussed to put a prop engine/ jet engine on a tank, so it could fly/glide past obstacles. Another idea was to put two high-power jet/rocket boosters on the sponsors that could be activated so it could “boost” a tank to jump over difficult terrain. The idea, though had some merit, was deemed impractical and was only archived.

NO PROTOTYPE.

2. Where did the name “BZ” come from?

Factory 617 aka Inner Mongolia First Machinery Group Corporation, was originally located in Baotou (包头). The name BZ could be short for Baotou Zhuāngjiǎ chēliàng (包头装甲车辆) = “Baotua Armoured vehicle” project.

This naming method is based on “WZ”, which means “五机部(第五工业)-装甲车辆” (Wǔ jī bù —zhuāngjiǎ chēliàng), Fifth mechanical institution/corps – Armoured vehicle.

3. BZ-176’s 160mm gun.

after some googling, i think this is the only possible fit. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M-160_mortar

The Russian m160 mortar, which Chinese had their own version called type 56. a smoothbore breech loading heavy mortar, which in a way broke WG’s own rules of “no smoothbore”.

The square-looking turret

Im sure they base this on the export Chinese tank Type 85 “Storm”, the road wheel numbers and turret profile fit?

Though i have to ask…..WHY NOT JUST ADD THIS REAL TANK IN THE GAME? THIS HAVE A RIFLED GUN, AND NORMAL STEEL ARMOR AND FITS YOUR “HISTORICAL” RESTRICTIONS.

WHY THE FK DO YOU HAVE TO KEEP MAKING UP FANTASY TANKS AND SHOVE IT DOWN OUR THROAT?

YOU KNOW THE CHINESE MARKET (and the rest of the world) WILL GIVE YOU JUST AS MUCH MONEY BY GIVING THEM REAL TANKS RIGHT?

The whole type 69,79,80,85,88 family is up for grabs! WTF ARE U THINKING WEEGEE???

Afraid of them being too “similar to current russian/chinese lines and it wont be unique?”, IT YOUR JOB TO FIGURE IT OUT! WHY ARE YOU CHICKENING AwAY FROM YOUR DUTY? (cough cough, amx30 line, simplify the line so newbie wont be confused my ass)

OK, that’s the end of my nerdy stuff and rant, thx for reading through it.
